International Handball Players in Melbourne

New to Melbourne? Join our team.

Melbourne Handball Club welcomes international players of all experience levels. International players receive the same membership benefits as other club members and can take part in training, leagues and tournaments across Australia.

Do I need an international transfer?

You will need an international transfer certificate if you:

  • Were previously registered with a club outside Australia; and

  • Want to compete in the Australian Club Championship or Australian National Championship.

Our team manager will guide you through the application process.

When is the transfer free?

The transfer is generally free for:

  • Amateur players who have not played an official club match within the past 24 months; and

  • Exchange students.

Possible transfer costs

If an exemption does not apply:

  • IHF transfer fee: CHF 150 (approximately AUD 270)

  • Possible releasing federation fee: An additional CHF 150 (approximately AUD 270)

  • Maximum potential cost: CHF 300 (approximately AUD 540)

The final cost depends on your previous federation and how long it has been since your last official club match. Some federations may release players without charging a fee.

You can read the full International Handball Federation transfer regulations.

Please note: Melbourne Handball Club will help you complete the transfer process, but players are responsible for all associated fees.
